The University of Malta is deeply involved in the "Spot the Jellyfish" citizen science campaign through its Oceanography Malta Research Group, organises and manages the "Spot the Jellyfish" campaign, Its role includes coordinating the campaign, data collection and analysis for public education and outreach.
The Oceanography Malta Research Group (OMRG)
The Oceanography Malta Research Group (OMRG) is behind the Spot the Jellyfish initiative, a citizen science project launched by the University of Malta in 2010. This campaign aims to educate the public about the diversity of jellyfish species around Malta, actively involving citizens in reporting sightings.
The Enviroment & Resources Authority (ERA)
The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) in Malta plays a supportive and regulatory role in the "Spot the Jellyfish" campaign. ERA helps promote the campaign to increase public awareness and participation, also ERA supports educational efforts tied to the campaign, helping inform the public about the importance of biodiversity, the ecological role of jellyfish, and the impact of human activities on marine life.
The International Ocean Institute (IOI)
The International Ocean Institute (IOI) collaborates closely with the "Spot the Jellyfish" citizen science campaign in Malta by raising awareness of marine biodiversity and environmental issues. Through its educational programs and outreach, the IOI promotes public engagement in marine conservation, encouraging citizens to participate in efforts like "Spot the Jellyfish."
